The Youth Auxiliary Clubs of Pi Sigma Zeta Chapter Forest
Park, Ohio
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. decided in the
1950’s that young girls needed and wanted the same guidance and sisterhood that
they received by being in a sorority. Therefore, many Zeta chapters decided to create
youth auxiliary clubs. The Pearlette and Amicette clubs are composed of young girls
4 to 8 years old and 9 to 13 years old, respectively, who are matriculating in elementary
and junior high schools. The Archonette club is composed of young ladies between
the ages of 14 and 18, who are matriculating in high school.
These youth groups will help young women grow
culturally, socially, and educationally. The clubs also fosters the ideals
of service, scholarship, sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood. Projects will vary according
to their interests and the needs of the community. A project may be of service to
an individual, group and/or the community and develop their special skills at the
same time. In addition to providing service to others and the community, they are
able to engage in social activities that provide enjoyment, while creating a sisterly
bond amongst each other.
The Pearlette, Amicette and Archonette clubs
provide activities which present opportunities to:
- To encourage the individual to accept
responsibility
- Develop new interests
- Work toward creating happiness for others
- Develop an awareness of the need to share
responsibilities and to understand one another in order to achieve a common goal.
- Develop their unique personality
- Broaden the life of the young ladies by
providing them with an opportunity to make responsible decisions, to develop social
confidence and to relate to their peers, parents and adults in general.
The Archonette club currently meets at Aiken
High School under the leadership of Adonica Jones-Parks. All girls interested in
membership in any of these clubs or requiring additional information should leave
a message on the chapter's voice mail at 513.956.1799.
